So I've decided to start doing a monthly review, to kind of check in and add a more personal touch to our blog! No idea if you guys are interested in what we're up to (comment below if you are/aren't!) but it's also something that I can do for our family to keep them in the loop!
I've decided to call these series 'adventures', to remind myself to get out there and go and try new things, celebrate little wins, and just keep a document of what we have been up to! We love ourselves an adventure over on The Home Cook's Kitchen!
So welcome to our first installment - March Adventures.
March went by relatively stress free, and I didn't really think it was the most exciting month but a few things happened.
The biggest news we have would probably be that we put a deposit down for a puppy (yes, big news, so excited to see what happens), and we started planning our (belated) honeymoon to Mexico and Cuba (again so darn excited).
We also got our full album of wedding photos back and they are AMAZING! I've included a few for you to see! *I love how I put puppy news before wedding news ????????
In other news:
On the Blog||
We've been celebrating the new blog and new recipes. Although there are some glitches I still want to fix, I am feeling really positive and happy about the direction The Home Cook's Kitchen is heading.
I bought a new camera lens which I feel has taken my photography to a much higher level, and I am so excited for what the upcoming Spring and Summer months have to come.
We also now have a MAILING LIST that you can subscribe to! If you subscribe you will receive a free monthly recipe NOT featured on the blog. I am also hoping to work toward a free e-book at well! ☺☺

Although I only got through 4 recipes this month, I am happy to celebrate a couple of other wins. A couple of my photos finally got accepted onto Food Gawker which is a big step forward for me!
March Recipes:
Food ||
We've discovered two new amazing cafes/restaurants that we are in love with. Foxy Coffee just opened in Portland and has some seriously good coffee. I love the minimalist, chill vibe is has and the fact they offer a 10% discount to return customers!
In other news, we found a really good place for brunch. Tusk is our new favourite brunch spot, and I've discovered me love for mimosa's. Tusk celebrates Middle Eastern style food, and has some seriously good za'atar scones/biscuits!
Listening ||
I've been obsessing over Tom Walker lately, and also Milky Chance's new song. Adam makes a new monthly playlist so we are able to keep track of what we are loving. We are going to The XX in April which I am really looking forward to.
Watching ||
I have been watching a lot of crap on Netflix at the moment, but have been loving it. The Great British Bake Off is a new fav and has been making me want to bake a lot more. It inspired me to make scones the other day!
I have also been loving watching 'Sarah's Day' on YouTube. She is an Australian vlogger which such a passion for life and is so funny to watch.
I watched 'Lion' twice - if you haven't seen it, absolutely recommend. I was absolutely bawling by the end of it. I also watched 'Moonlight' which I really, really enjoyed.
Reading ||
Unfortunately I haven't done much reading this month, but recently finished 'Broken', which I loved. I watched the movie, but preferred the level of detail found in the book. I have 'The Underground Railroad' and 'A Long Way Home' on hold which I can't wait to read.
Doing ||
We have been snowboarding a little bit, and have started the Portland Sockeye/Steelhead season. They are both Australian Football teams located in Portland, and it's been amazing getting back out with my friends and getting active.
We have hosted a lot of dinner parties, and getting down some great ideas for the blog in upcoming months (slight clue there in what is to come!).
We've also started planting some new herbs for the spring, which so far I have successfully managed to kill. Well done to me.
Next Month ||
Next month we have a few gigs planned, and more snowboarding. Hopefully we will start getting out into some hikes. We are also spending a weekend in wine country which should result in some a lot of wine purchases.
We have birthday parties coming up, and are planning on hosting a Good Friday seafood party.
On that note, we are going to be giving you guys some beautiful spring and Easter recipes. Think chocolate, fish, hot cross buns, and other delicious Easter recipes.
I am craving food like asparagus, goat cheese, citrus and am really excited to be sharing some awesome new recipes with you!
So thanks for stopping by guys, and thank you for all your support on The Home Cook's Kitchen! I am having so much fun creating food and recipes that I am passionate about, and love the feedback that you are all giving!

Congratulations on the new puppy! And also on the (GORGEOUS) wedding photos and on being accepted to Food Gawker. I'm so happy for you on all three counts. I love the idea of a roundup every month and look forward to reading more--and to seeing photos once you bring your puppy home 🙂
