OMG could not contain my excitement about this smoothie I made this morning so I just HAD to post the recipe for you!!! If you're looking for a smooth, creamy and thick smoothie, then this chocolate banana smoothie is for you!
This was more of an accident, I don't even like bananas, but woke up and thought, 'hey, the sun is shining, lets see what smoothie I can make that has chocolate in it!' I was tossing up between adding frozen banana or avocado for thickness, (obv because I hate bananas), but just wasn't quite sure what avocado would taste like, and I wasn't willing to waste ingredients this morning! The reason this is called a treat yo self chocolate banana smoothie, is because it is hugely decadent, and probably has too much fat and chocolate in it for a balanced breakfast. In saying that, it contains no added refined sugars, but I reckon the almond butter and coconut cream fattens it up a little bit! I would also suggest keeping this to two servings, I made it just for myself this morning, I'm halfway through eating it as I write this post, and I am feeling a little sick! Guess that serves me right for being a little piglet! It is just too good though, the struggle is real!!!!
Here are some topping suggestions for you to add:
- Almond Butter
- Fresh fruits - strawberries, blueberries or raspberries (raspberries are good because the tartness cuts the chocolate)
- Our chocolate granola
- Plain yoghurt
- Coconut cream
- Coconut whipped cream (recipe from Minimalist Baker)
- Peanut Butter
So lucky you guys because you get a two recipes today, because I'll be posting our F*ck it Friday meal later in the afternoon (and boy do we have a great recipe for you this week!!) Woohoo, spontaneous recipes, but seriously could not go past posting this for you! Happy smoothie making! And remember if you make any of our recipes, tag us on instagram #thehomecookskitchen
