Celebrate the end of summer with this gorgeous Strawberry Basil Mule. A fun, summery spin on a classic, these mules taste so refreshing and are so quick and easy to make!
With summer nearing the end, I thought it was only appropriate to bring you one more super summery cocktail before the fall arrives! Let’s take summer out with a bang this year, with a delightfully easy, Strawberry Basil Mule!
I can’t believe I haven’t done a Moscow Mule recipe for you guys on the blog yet! Moscow Mules are my go-to cocktail when I go out, and I love how refreshing they taste!
If you’re not familiar with a Moscow Mule, it’s essentially a combination of vodka, ginger beer and lime. It is one of the easiest cocktails to whip up at home and really requires simple ingredients. Did you know that Smirnoff was actually the original creator of the Moscow Mule back in 1941?
While I love traditional Moscow Mules, I love to keep things interesting in the kitchen, which is why I decided to bring together two of my favourite summer flavours - strawberry and basil. I feel like strawberry and basil are meant to be together! With the addition of the ginger and lime, you’ve got yourself a winner.
I feel like I’ve been behind my game this summer with summer parties! We had this grand plan of doing the backyard so that we could have people over, but I still haven’t had any backyard barbecues! So I’ve made a promise to myself to throw one more backyard party before summer is over.
There are a few essentials to backyard parties I’ve decided. Lots of food, good tunes, a few games and of course, a signature cocktail that everyone will love! That’s why I am so excited to be partnering with Smirnoff today to celebrate ending our summer in style!
I’ve been drinking Smirnoff for as long as I can remember! It’s always been a favourite vodka of mine. As a lover of home entertaining, I also know how expensive it can get hosting dinner parties, and barbecues, yet another reason why I choose Smirnoff Vodka. It’s affordable and easily accessible, making it the perfect vodka to bring out for the parties!
As a frequent host, I also know how picky some people can be when it comes to alcohol and cocktail choices, so I love that Smirnoff now does Smirnoff Ice Party Packs in four delicious flavours, meaning everyone can find something they love! These are premium malt-based beverages and are great to throw in the cooler as another option for guests who are maybe looking for a cocktail without the harsh bite, or to cater for those who just aren’t in the mood to make their own cocktail at the cocktail station!
So without further ado, let’s get started in making a Strawberry Basil Mulel!
How to Make A Strawberry Basil Mule
It’s so quick and simple to make a Strawberry Basil Mule, meaning they are the perfect cocktail for your next outdoor party! They come together in less than 5 minutes, and would be perfect to have as a DIY cocktail stand in the backyard!
You’ll start by muddling together some fresh, ripe strawberries. If you’re unfamiliar with muddling, it’s a technique used in cocktail making, whereby you break down the fruit to release the flavours using a wooden muddler or spoon. I recently invested in a wooden muddler, and it’s been a game changer for cocktails! If you don’t have a muddler, the end of a wooden spoon will do just fine!
As well as muddling the strawberries, I like to gently muddle the basil leaves, too, to realise their flavour.
After you’ve released all those delicious juices and flavours from the strawberries and basil, you simply add 1.5 oz of SMIRNOFF No. 21 Vodka. Distilled From Grain. 40% Alc/Vol. The Smirnoff Co., Norwalk, CT, 4 oz of good quality ginger beer, some lime juice and ice, then garnish with a fresh strawberry and basil leaf.
How easy is that?
Summer entertaining doesn’t have to be difficult! With some delicious cocktails, the crowd will love (or some single serve drinks for your drinkers who don’t dig cocktails!), some great food, music and good company, you’re well on your way to hosting a fantastic backyard summer barbecue!
