These blood orange cocktails are perfect for the changing weather! A light, refreshing cocktail, brought to life with a beautiful ginger-mint simple syrup!
Ummmm I did a thing! And it was exciting! I made the most kick ass simple syrup I think I've ever made, and, combined with the blood orange and fresh ginger in this cocktail, the combination is quite amazing!
I'm just a little excited! Probably going to eat my words next week, but we are finally having some nice weather roll through Portland! While everyone else is still in foot deep snow, our weather has been unseasonably warm which is a good and bad thing.
It's great for me because I thrive on sunshine and hate the cold, but part of me is a little worried because of #climatechange.
Not that I want to make these blood orange cocktails into a story about climate change, but you gotta wonder about these weird unseasonal months!
But enough philosophizing now, let's talk about these blood orange cocktails!
I'm jumping on the blood orange wagon here because they are just the most beautiful looking pieces of fruit ever and are just so darn tasty!
I wanted to create something really tasty for you guys and realised I hadn't made a cocktail in quite some time, so what better time than the present! Huzzah. (yeah, I just went there...).
But these cocktails are something special!
I wanted to jazz them up a bit because I found just with the orange and vodka they were a little bland, so I came up with the wonderful idea of making an infused ginger and mint simple syrup which brought this recipe up to next level! I've been really into making simple syrups lately!
The sweetness of the sugar and blood orange goes beautifully with the sharpness and spiciness of the ginger, and adding fresh gingers just completes it! I love the taste of fresh ginger so, so much and it makes this cocktail taste so light and fresh!
These blood orange cocktails are fuss-free, quick and easy to make and can be adapted to how many guests you're making them for!
Enjoy!

There is nothing I love more than a pink cocktail! And this sounds so good! Did Portland get snow over the weekend? My sister sent pics of all the snow Eugene got--if so, I hope you've warmed up a little since then! Have a great week, Georgie!
